Academic Boosters - La Costa Canyon High School Foundation

MAC Boosters is an organization of LCC Parents and individuals committed to raising funds to support the educational needs of students aimed primarily at the classroom. MAC operates within the La Costa Canyon High School Foundation. 100% of all funds that are raised and donated are directed to the classroom through an annual mini-grant process. MAC Boosters also supplies all classrooms with Care Packages at the beginning of the academic year with necessities like tissues and office supplies. Please give generously as your student will benefit!

New parent members are always welcome. MAC Boosters meets the first Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the Conference Room of the Administration Building. (Click here for meeting schedule.)

Funding for the mini-grants comes through donations and successful partnerships with companies in our community. A portion of all business from LCC students is donated to the MAC fund. Please support LCC Academics by doing business with our partners!

Revolution Prep (See revolutionprep.com) will be holding four different class sessions this fall and winter (see dates below). The cost of the class is $499 (which works out to a little more than $13./hour) . The classes will be held on the LCC campus. In preparation for the October 9th SAT, classes will be held Saturday, August 28th through Wednesday, October 6th. In preparation for the November 6th SAT, classes will be held Saturday, September 25th through Thursday, November 4th. In preparation for the December 4th SAT, classes will be held Saturday, October 16th through Tuesday, November 30th. Then, in preparation for the December 11th ACT, classes will be held from Saturday, October 23rd (classes held on Tuesdays until the last class which will be on Wednesday) through Wednesday, December 8th. The Saturday classes will be held from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The weekday sessions are held from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. You can sign up for the course at www.revolutionprep.com. click here.

There will be one MOCK SAT EXAM and one MOCK ACT EXAM. The MOCK SAT EXAM will be on Sunday, September 12th and the MOCK ACT EXAM will be held on Sunday, October 10th. These exams simulate the actual exams. The score will NOT count as a reported score. You will be the only one who knows what your score is. It is great practice for the actual exam. The cost is $20. Driver Training Classes LCC has partnered with Miracosta College to offer driver’s training classes and behind-the-wheel on LCC’s campus. Please click here for fall dates.

The mini-grant process works follows:
MAC Boosters has a liaison for each department at LCC. The liaison serves as a representative to their specific LCC Academic department. They meet with the department, or teachers individually, to identify, support, and communicate the needs to MAC Boosters. The teacher/department can apply for a mini-grant. Each mini-grant request is reviewed by the MAC Boosters. Approved grants are purchased for the classroom. In 2009-2010, MAC granted 34 grants for items including calculators, language DVDs, a classroom theatre system and something as basic as butcher paper. Since 2008, classroom support to the teachers has totaled OVER $40,000. 100% of donations go to classroom supplies.
